What Geographers Do

School geography is no longer just about facts. It is more about how those facts arise in the first place. Geography can tell us why China is a friend of Burma and why it is investing rapidly in Africa.  Geography helps us understand why the Middle East conflict is so difficult to solve.  Geography predicted years in advance the water shortages we are now experiencing in Ireland (and what to do about it) and geography predicted the rise of Ghost Estates.  Geography tells us where MacDonald's restaurants locate and helps inform the Geographic Information Systems that maps them on your iPhone.
